I was skeptical, but it really does work! February 15, 2010 S. Jimenez We have a crazy cat who suddenly decided to start peeing on the couch because we didn't let her out when she wanted to go out one day... Anyways, there was no good way to get out the smell (I could wash the cover, but not the foam inside) so I decided to buy this based on the positive reviews. It worked wonderfully. I sprayed the cover and let it sit before washing it (I washed it because I figured a double dose of cleaning couldn't hurt!), then soaked the foam in spray. After the spray dried there was no hint of cat pee smell. (The microsuede cover didn't have any discoloring or staining from the spray either.) There was also a fleece sweatshirt on the couch during the pee incident. I washed it once normally (thinking detergent would be enough) but it still reeked; however, after a good spray of Icky-poo the smell was gone. A note for people sensitive to chemicals: the spray itself does have a strong smell (not a bad smell really, just strong) but the smell goes away after it dries. Overall, I can't recommend this enough if you have cat pee problems!
Awesome February 10, 2010 Christina M. Fan Works well -- I love the nozzle because it has a very strong stream, and gets the cleaner right in there, in the carpet.
Not just for pet urine January 24, 2010 nsv (The Everglades) Recently we've developed a urine problem in this house. (Hopefully that's vague enough that it won't get me into trouble.) Scouring the carpet at 4 in the morning is getting to be a little challenging, and some items of clothing have been exiled to the garage until a solution is found. Anti-Icky-Poo arrived today. I ordered it because I remembered it had been useful when I took in an abused puppy several years ago. (Accidents happened several times a day until he learned he didn't have to be afraid of me.) I took one pair of pants that had been washed and dried about four times, but the smell remained. All I accomplished with all that laundry was to bake the smell into the fabric. I sprayed the pants with Anti-Icky-Poo--enough to wet the fabric, but not soaking wet--and set them aside for three hours. Then they went into the laundry. It worked. The smell is gone. The rest of the laundry will get the treatment tonight and get washed tomorrow, and I've diluted some Anti-Icky-Poo with 3 parts water to soak the carpet at the bathroom door. I don't like the perfume smell, but it fades fairly quickly and it's a whole lot better than stale urine smell. Anti-Icky-Poo works too well to really complain about that. And of course I get funny looks when I tell anyone what product I'm using. Usually that would be bad, but laughter has been kind of scarce around here lately. So for that I'll give a sixth star.
doesn't work January 4, 2010 C. Crabtree 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
a WASTE OF MONEY. We had a female cat who decided to start peeing to mark her territory. I read several reviews and thought this product would finally help to rid the smell. We tried the quart bottle with the sprayer and the smell returned in 2-3 days. So, I thought we needed to apply more of the product. We then purchased the gallon of AIP. We treated 2 areas measuring 4x4 each, so a total of 32 feet. My husband saturated the carpet, I mean saturated. He even treaded in the areas in tennis shoes so as to get down into the pad. The product sqooshed and foamed up. Guess what...2-3 days later the stench returned. However, it now smells like a metallic/piss smell. We also tried What Odor? Didn't work. Also tried cleaning with the bissel spot bot using bissel pet odor eliminator in the machine. Didn't work. And the latest attempt, Arm and Hammer Baking soda Pet Deodorizer Oxi formula. Again, didn't work.
Saved my couches! December 11, 2009 Girl Scout (New Jersey) This product really worked for us. Our cat periodically sprays an upholstered chair and couch and we have tried many products (enzyme based) that worked fairly well but did not completely remove the smell. Tried anti-icky poo on a whim and it completely removed the smell. I was pretty surprised that it worked so well. The smell of the product itself is strong, but that fades within a couple of days and is an improvement over cat pee!
